Harvey Hoffman Keller, age 91, died on November 29, 2014 at the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center in Odebolt, Iowa. Harvey was born on May 7, 1923 in Denison, Iowa to parents Harvey G. and Nell Keller.
Harvey served in World War II as a Sergeant and in the army he served as a 792 Anti-Aircraft Automatic Weapons Battalion from 1941 to 1945. He was awarded many metals while serving his country and in 1948, he was honorably discharged. On Veterans Day, November 11, 2014, Harvey was rewarded with a medallion and certificate of appreciation by the Sac County Veteran Affairs Commission. After returning from World War II, Harvey went into business as a barber with his father. After his father passed away, Harvey continued the family business cutting hair. He barbered for 62 years before retiring in 2004 at the age of 81.
On January 27, 1943, Harvey was united in marriage to Rose Bennett. This union was blessed with a daughter, Roseanne. They later divorced. On May 19, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa, Harvey and Mavis Lucille Swieter were united in marriage. This union was blessed with a daughter, Cheri. Mavis passed away in 1987 due to cancer.
Harvey is survived by his two daughters: Roseanne (Norman) Schulter of Friend, NE and Cheri (Gary) Stowe of Seattle, WA; three grandchildren: Jeff (Angel) Schluter of Hastings, NE, David (Dawn) Schluter of Friend, NE, and Darwin (Melonie) Schluter of Friend, NE; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and many extended family members. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and two wives.
