Wilma Jean Pudenz, age 73, of Lake View, left this earthly life on October 18, 2008, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa.  Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake.  Visitation will be Monday October 20th, from 4-8 p.m. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake.  Family will be present from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.  Farber and Otteman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    
Wilma “Jean” Boes was born to Julius and Myrtle (Grabner) Boes on June 17, 1935 in Carroll, IA.  She and her family lived in Breda, IA where she attended Saint Bernard Grade School. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at Saint Bernard’s. She also attended Saint Bernard High School where she graduated in 1953.  She then went on to study musical education at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, IA.
   
Jean met and fell in love with Merle Pudenz and they were joined in marriage on January 25, 1955, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda.  To this union, 9 children were born: Jeffrey, Carmen, Jan, Julius (Juke), Jerry, Jay, Jody, Ann, and Jaime.
   
Jean and Merle made their home in Lake View, Iowa.  She worked hard to make a loving home for their family, as well as staying very active in her community.  She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake where she served as Choir Director, Funeral Choir Director, Cantor, as well as teaching CCD for over 20 years.  She was also a member of the DCCW and St. Joseph’s Guild.
   
Among her many talents, she also found time to give back to her community in other ways.  She delivered meals on wheels to those in need and also participated in County Chords, Ecumenical Community Choir, Lake View Garden Club, and was a member of Foresters.  She was also Co-owner and Secretary for Pudenz Popcorn Co.
   
Her personal hobbies included a love of music, painting, Indian culture, gardening, and reading.  She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
  
Left to mourn her passing is her husband of 53 years, Merle; children: Jeff (Nancy) Pudenz of Breda, IA; Carmen (Dean) Reising, Des Moines, IA; Jan (Lori) Pudenz, Canton, South Dakota; Juke (Lisa) Pudenz, Lake View, IA; Jerry (Anne Marie) Pudenz, Lewisburg, OH; Jay Pudenz, Kansas City, MO; Jody (Becky) Pudenz, Lewisburg, OH; Ann (Chris) Toft, Arcadia, IA; Jaime (Crystal) Pudenz, Lake View, IA.  Thirty beloved grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters: Ardys (Ray) Collins, Scranton, IA; Mary Jo (Bob) Lloyd, Leawood, KS; Audrey (Terry) Johnson, Bode, IA; Myriel Boes, Omaha, NE.
    
Preceded in death by her parents: Julius and Myrtle; mother and father-in-law: Norbert and Elenore Pudenz; and grandson: Nathan Pudenz.
