Funeral services for Verna Zadow will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 10th at Faith Lutheran Church in Early, Iowa with Rev. Charles Bettin officiating. Burial will be at the Early Union Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Sac City.

Verna W. Zadow went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. She was 89 years old. Born in Boyer Valley Township on May 2, 1919 to Louis P. and Anna F. (Dobbert) Weitzel. She lived in the Boyer Valley area most of her life. Graduating from Early Consolidated High School in 1938.

On February 24, 1944, Verna was united in marriage to Frank Junior Zadow at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cook Township.

An active member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church her entire life, she taught Sunday school for many years. As a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church, Early, Iowa, she held an office in the Ladies Society for many years. She was a devoted member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), attending conventions and made scores of quilts and soap for the missions.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading and in her earlier years playing golf.

Verna will be missed by her beloved husband of almost 65 years, Frank Junior Zadow. They were blessed with three sons: Allan (Diane) of Altoona, IA, Ronald-deceased, and David (Mary) of Omaha, NE.

Survivors include her husband, Frank; sons: Allan and David; sisters: Leila Smith of Early, IA, and Louanna (Lew) Massey of Warsaw, MO; eight grandchildren: Jeffrey A. Zadow of Austin, MN, Jason J. (Heather) Zadow of Portland, OR, Erica J. Zadow of Omaha, NE, Brian D. Zadow of Kansas, Emily M. Zadow of Omaha, NE, Benjamin L. Zadow of Omaha, NE, Matthew C. Zadow of Austin, TX, and Dana M. Zadow of Houston, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Leland Weitzel, and son Ronald Zadow.
