Shirley C. Staton, age 75, of Charlotte, Michigan, formerly of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2008 at Hospice Center in Charlotte.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27th at Cory Grove Cemetery in Sac City with Rev. Sharla Hulsey officiating. The Farber & Otteman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley was born on June 18, 1933 in Charlotte, MI, the daughter of John and Eleanor (Whittaker) Mitchell. She attended school in Potterville, Michigan. On April 28, 1962, Shirley was united in marriage to Wilbur “Dean” Staton at her parents home. Three daughters were born to this union: Colleen, Linda, and Deana. Dean and Shirley moved to Lake View in 1988 after retiring. Shirley was a loving and caring wife and mother, providing a comfortable home for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter brought her great joy.

Survivors include her daughters: Colleen and husband Steve Copeland of Odebolt; Linda Staton of Michigan; and Deana Miller of Utah; four grandchildren: Krystal Fraley, Kenneth Wiltse, Brandy Miller and Summer Miller; one great-granddaughter; sister Veralee Heinze of Michigan; and extended family members.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dean Staton on November 29, 2006.
