Susan R. Blum, age 49, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at Loring Hospital in Sac City following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 12th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City with Pastor Andrew Ratcliffe officiating. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 11th at the funeral home in Sac City.

Susan Renae Higgins was born on May 22, 1959 in Sac City, the daughter of Robert and Shirley (Bundt) Higgins. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she remained a member. She graduated from Sac City High School with the class of 1978. After graduation she lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she later attended Iowa Western Community College earning her Associate of Applied Science Degree specializing in computer/mechanical drawing and design technology.

Susan was blessed with four children: Brandon, Brandi, Nicole and Stephanie. She cherished and loved her children and family. Susan was very artistic and enjoyed drawing, scrapbooking and spending time outside in the summer. Her artistic talent, organizational skills, and her ability to pay attention to details helped her in her work at Inner-Salon Designs, Inc. in Council Bluffs as a design technician (mainly for beauty salons). Most important to Susan was her family, she was so grateful for all they had done for her and loved them very much.

Those thankful for sharing her life include her daughters: Brandi, Nicole, and Stephanie all of Sac City; her parents Robert and Shirley Higgins of Sac City; two sisters: Sandy (John) Courter of Sac City and Leann Morris of Greenville, MI; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Susan was preceded in death by her infant son Brandon and infant brother Richard Higgins.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her!
