Robert W. Kurth

Robert W. Kurth, age 59, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2008, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Cemetery in Glidden, Iowa at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Friends may call at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View from 4 to 8 on Monday where there will be a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.

Robert William Kurth was born October 14, 1948, in Lake City, Iowa the son of William and Phyllis (Wolterman) Kurth. He attended Glidden grade school, graduating from Glidden Ralston High School, in 1966. He continued his education by attending Iowa State University in Ames.

In 1968, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Whitten. Rosemary passed away in 1974. He later married Jeanine Rose Ertz, on June 25, 1977 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale, Iowa.

Robert owned the H & R Block office in Jefferson, Iowa where he worked as a tax accountant. In 1991 Robert and Jeanine moved to Lake View to live on Black Hawk Lake. He retired in 2006.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake and enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and trapping.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jeanine: four children, Kim Daniel of Carroll, IA, Alan Daniel of San Diego, CA., Paul Daniel and special friend, Chris of Lidderdale, IA, and Ryan Kurth and wife Erin of Norwalk, IA; one granddaughter, Hannah Kurth. Other survivors include, his two mothers-in-law, Marie Ertz of Glidden, IA and Jennie Whitten of Carroll, IA; brother, William Kurth and wife Judy of Marengo, IL; two sisters, Lois Moberg and husband Jerry of Carroll, IA, and Dot Strabela and husband Jim of North Liberty, IA; two brothers-in-law, Dave Ertz of Estherville, IA and Dean Ertz and wife Laura of Boone, IA; and sister-in-law, Joy Esterbrooks and husband Dennis of Omaha, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Rosemary; and two fathers-in-law, Ray Ertz and Neal Whitten.
