Robert Dean Gross, age 69, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2008, at his home in Lake View.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 29th, 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake View. Burial will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Auburn, IA, under the direction of the Farber and Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 28th, from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Lake View.

Bob was born to Henry and Ida (Seeden) Gross on September 21, 1938, in Glidden, Iowa. He went to elementary school in Glidden and went on to graduate from Glidden Ralston High School in 1957. In his youth he was baptized and confirmed at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Glidden, IA.

He was united in marriage to Sandy Wright on September 16, 1962 at the Auburn Presbyterian Church. They enjoyed a loving marriage of nearly 46 years. This union was blessed with two daughters, Amy and Marcy.

Bob provided for his family as a loyal employee of the Egyptian Vault Company for 30 years. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed vintage cars and driving tractors on the farm. Bob especially loved his grandchildren and they always kept a special place in is heart.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Sandy; daughters: Amy (Patrick) Sexton of Lake View and Marcy (Shannon Pierce) Gross of Sac City; grandchildren: Tony and Alyssa Sexton of Lake View and Jessica, Cody, and Jamie Pierce of Sac City; sisters: Elnora Stunkel of Mountain Home, AK and Ethel Funk of Decatur, IL; mother-in-law Delores (Leroy) Rowedder of Manning, IA; sisters-in-law: Jeanne Gross of Lake Park, IA, Sharon Gross-Odom of Clare, IA, and Delores Gross of Cedar Rapids, IA; brothers-in-law: Merle (Renee) Wright and Jim (Cheri) Wright both of Lake City; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ida, six brothers, seven sisters, and father-in-law Lloyd Wright.
