Funeral services for Margie P. Loger, 85, of Odebolt are Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Odebolt. The Rev. Mark Volkers will officiate with burial in the Odebolt Cemetery under the direction of Farber and Otteman Funeral Home.  Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.  Margie passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.

She was born Dec. 7, 1923 in Windom, Minn., the daughter of Elwood and Ruby (Wise) Deibert. Her childhood was spent in Windom and Sac City. She was baptized at Windom, Minn., and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church in Sac City. She graduated from Sac City High School in 1941.

She married Vernon Loger on Feb. 3, 1946 in Sac City. They had two children Pauline (Polly) Marie and Stephen (Steve) Dennis. Following her husband’s death in January 1970, she joined the work force as a bookkeeper for Einspahr and Janssen Implement, Peterson Repair and The Electric Company. She retired from The Electric Company in December 1999.

Margie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Odebolt where she taught nursery Sunday school for 35 years, was a member of the choir for 50 years, was a member of Presbyterian Women having served as president and secretary for several years, was a member of the Mary Elizabeth Guild and served terms as an elder, deacon and trustee. She also served as the church’s bookkeeper until a year ago.

Margie loved sewing, flowers and gardening. She designed and constructed several pieces of clothing for her family, including Polly's wedding dress.  She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A favorite pastime was sitting out on her picnic table visiting with family and neighbors.

Survivors include her daughter Polly and husband Bruce Raasch of Odebolt; son Steve and wife Debbie of Odebolt; grandchildren and their families--Matt and his wife Janene Raasch and children Kristina, Amber and Drayton of Odebolt, Marla Raasch of Charter Oak, Megan and her husband Mike Irlbeck and son Craig of Coon Rapids, Joshua and Amber Loger and their children  Jordyn, Devon and Adriana of Odebolt and Dathan and Amanda Loger and their children Caleigh, Jagger and Hogan of Odebolt; a sister, Vivian Lashier of Shenandoah; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon, granddaughters Michelle Raasch and Mandy Loger and her brother-in-law Neil Lashier.
