Lill was born on June 13, 1935, in Graettinger, the daughter of Roy and Evelyn (Anderson) Lundgren. Lill lived in Kettle River, Minnesota and Des Moines while she was growing up, graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and attended Buena Vista College. After acquiring her teaching certificate Lill became an elementary school teacher in Lytton and always felt that providing a good education to children was a top priority. Lill was united in marriage to George C. Shull on December 21st, 1957. Lill stayed home to raise her children while they were young making their house truly a “home”. Lill was a very hardworking person, still working full-time as the office manager of her husband’s accounting business at the time of her death. Throughout the years she was also very actively involved in numerous community events and activities. Lill was above all else a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her compassion, caring, understanding and generosity towards others knew no boundaries. Friends felt that when she spoke to them that they were the only person that mattered in the entire world. It was not uncommon for total strangers to tell her their life story, as her thoughtfulness was evident even to them. She made all holidays a special occurrence from Valentine’s Day to Christmas. Lill had a variety of interests and among those she especially enjoyed were gardening, sewing, interior decorating, shopping, driving her 66 Mustang convertible and attending numerous musical performances with family and friends at the Civic Center. There are many happy memories to cherish including the cabin at Storm Lake, touring 48 states by motorcycle with her husband, 4th of July parades, and in recent years annual vacations with her family to Table Rock Lake in Missouri. Survivors include her husband, George; daughters: Tracy Fliger of Cedar Rapids and Deb Shull of Adel; and four grandchildren: Jeff and Sam Hambrecht and Kyle and Shawn Fliger. Other survivors include her brother, Leroy (Pat) Lundgren of Pittsburgh and sister, Lorraine (Jerry) Ferrell of Des Moines along with many extended family members and numerous friends. Lill was preceded in death by her son, Jeff, her parents and her sister Lavonne Troutman. |
