Jeremiah Joseph Coppens was born on July 20, 1938, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the son of Carl and Verna (Mohlic) Coppens. As a young child Jerry moved with his military father and family, but settled primarily in Wisconsin. He graduated from Kewanee High School in Kewanee, WI in 1957.

He met and fell in love with Wanda Gilson and they were married on September 12, 1970. They made their home in Sac City and were members of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

For most of his working life, Jerry was an over the road trucker. He loved watching sports, especially football and baseball. He was also an avid fan of Nascar. You could always find him wearing a smile, and he never met a stranger anywhere he went. Jerry loved to sit in his chair and watch the grass grow in the backyard.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 38 years, Wanda; mother: Verna, Hartford, WI; brothers: Jim Coppens of Vancouver, WA; Wayne Coppens (special friend Betty) of Mayville, WI; 3 sons; 1 daughter; 1 granddaughter, brother-in-law Rick (Shirley) Gilson; and 2 nephews and their families.

Preceded in death by his father Carl; and sister: Loretta Coppens.
