Frank Schriber

Frank Schriber, age 93, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008, at Park View Care Center in Sac City.

Services for Frank will be Saturday, December 20th, 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, December 19th, at the Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City. Vigil will be at 7 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus rosary to be held at 8 p.m. on Friday. The Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City is in charge of arrangements.

Frank Leo Schriber was born October 31, 1915 in Schaller, Iowa, to parents Frank and Ruth (Worthington) Schriber. He was baptized into the Catholic Church at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Schaller. He attended grade school in Wesley, Iowa and graduated from Britt High School in 1935.

After high school he found work with various creameries. He worked at the creamery in Britt, Iowa and managed the Swea City, Iowa creamery and the creamery in Ruthven, Iowa. He also served dairy farmers in Sac and Ida counties as the Surge Milking Equipment Dealer from 1962 until his retirement in 1980.

Frank fell in love with Doris Mae Jensen and they were married in 1942 in Algona, Iowa. To this union one son was born, James and a daughter Barbara who died shortly after birth. James married Bonnie (Cohrt) and they gave Frank three grandsons: Michael, Daniel, and Ryan.

Frank loved to fish and enjoyed taking trips that he won selling for the Surge Milking Equipment Company. Frank also became an accomplished portrait painter and wood carver after he retired. He will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife Doris in 1999 and parents: Frank and Ruth Schriber.

Survivors include his son: James and wife Bonnie; grandchildren: Michael, Daniel (wife Lyn), and Ryan (wife Kari); great-grandson Jack; and great-granddaughter Ava.
