Elmer Donald Bugge

Elmer Donald Bugge, age 86, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 13th, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View with Pastor James Travis officiating.  Burial will be at the Ferguson Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View.

Visitation if from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home in Lake View.
    
Elmer was born on April 2, 1922, in Odebolt, Iowa, the son of Fredrick and Katherine Stock Bugge.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.  He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View.
    
Elmer graduated from the Lake View High School in 1939.  In November 1942 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served three and a half years as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate second class.  He served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theater of war and in 1945 was awarded the Purple Heart.
    
Elmer was united in marriage to Norma Savage on June 20, 1946.  They lived in Lake View where Elmer was employed at the Egyptian Vault Company until he retired in 1985.  He was a member of the Lake View volunteer fire department for 28 years and the American Legion for over 60 years.  He enjoyed playing cards with his friends, putting puzzles together, gardening, and spending time with his family.
    
Survivors include his wife Norma; two sons: Jerry and his wife Teresa Bugge of Carlisle, IA and Craig Bugge of Lubbock TX; four grandsons: Kevin Bugge of Iowa City, Andrew Bugge of Carlisle, Zachary Bugge of Lubbock, Texas and Derek Bugge of Hobbs, New Mexico; seven great-grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Madyson, Jordon, Matthew, Mariah, Micah and James; extended family members and many friends.
    
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; sister Hazel Bruns; brother Raymond Bugge; and grandson Jason Bugge.
