Dorothy J. Longman, age 93, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31st, at 2:00 p.m., at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City, with Pastor Vicki Fisher officiating.

Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home in Sac City.

Dorothy was born on September 1, 1914 to Harry and Mary Elizabeth (Hunsley) Ehler in Sac City. She attended country school and Early Consolidated High School. In January of 1961, Dorothy was united in marriage to Glen R. Longman. They made their home near Sac City where they were members of the United Methodist Church.

Through the years Dorothy worked for several businesses in Sac City. She worked on the first “Farm Program” that came out to assist farmers; was secretary for Farber & Otteman Funeral Home and Furniture Store; worked at Wilson – Rininger Seed Company; the Ford Garage; and for Glen Longman Realty.

Dorothy enjoyed being outdoors mowing their large yard, turkey hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, traveling, and raising flowers.

Survivors include her sister, Doris Ehler of Sac City; two brothers: Gerald and Dorothy Ehler and Donald and Patricia Ehler all of Sac City; sister-in-law, Malinda Longman of Sac City; brother-in-law LeRoy Kruskop of Cedar Rapids; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Glen on January 3, 1994; sisters-in-law: Bette Kruskop and Doris Longman; and brother-in-law Forrest Longman.
