Chester S. Heacock
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 3rd at the Cory Grove Cemetery in Sac City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the graveside service, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City. Chester was born on December 30, 1910 in Sac City the son of Richard D. and Emma M. (Wood) Heacock. He attended the Sac City schools and graduated from Sac City High School in 1928. Chet was united in marriage to Earlyn Bell. He worked at the Creamery in Sac City for 9 years. Chet and Earlyn were divorced and he married Bette, after she passed away, Chet remarried Earlyn on July 1, 1982. He was inducted into the United States Army on October 22, 1942. Chet served during World War II, earning the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He was discharged from his duties on April 17, 1944. He was a postal employee in Sac City for 12 years before he transferred to the bulk mail center in Urbandale. Chet retired in 1980. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan, and member of Odd Fellows in Sac City and Des Moines. Survivors include his two sons: Gary C. Heacock of Elkhart, IA and Richard Heacock of Fort Scott, KS; granddaughter Mary Ann Smith and her husband Alan of Elkhart; and two great-grandchildren: Curtis Jackson and fiancée Amanda Millard of Des Moines, IA, and Jody Jackson of Elkhart. Chester was preceded in death by his parents; both wives Earlyn and Bette; brother Kenneth; and sisters Marian and Doris. |
