Arland Herman Frank

Arland Herman Frank, age 64 of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2008, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday October 1, 2008, at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m., at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake.

Arland was born at Lake City, Iowa, on April 12, 1944 to Herman and Johanna (Mohr) Frank.  He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church rural Ulmer, Iowa.  On June 20, 1965, Arland was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Beckman at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll.  To this union two sons were born: Timothy Arland Frank and Thomas Walter Frank. 

Arland was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.  He attended country school by Carnarvon and Lake View High School.  He continued his mechanical training at the John Deere Trade School in Waterloo and Davenport, Iowa.  He worked for Cook Implement and Neil Richardson Implement of Wall Lake, Hanson Silo of Lake View, farmed near Lake City and Lake View, worked on several farms and drove truck.  Arland was forced to retire due to health reasons.  He still could not leave John Deere tractors alone, as he tinkered with many in the past years.  He was a member of the Iowa Old Iron Club and Western Iowa Antique Iron Club.  He liked to go camping and on tractor rides, work with his family on two-cylinder John Deere Tractors, and have coffee at the Country Store and at Doc’s with the guys.  He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and lived in the Wall Lake and Lake View area his entire life.
 
Arland is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; his sons: Tim of Mount Pleasant, IA, and Tom of Wall Lake: three grandchildren: Joshua and Brittany Schneider and Benjamin Frank; two step grandchildren: Destiny and Brianna Heath; two brothers: Elgene Frank and wife Linda and family of Dallas Center, IA, and Dennis Frank and wife Connie and family of Carroll; sister Marcile Pendleton and husband Brian and family of Akron, OH; brother-in-law Don and Marlene Beckman of Stockton, CA; sisters-in-law: Delores Bonney of Denver, CO, and Dianne Nieland and husband Al of Carroll, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.  His faithful dog, Butch, also survives him.

Arland was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Johanna Frank; brother Eldon Frank; nephews: Joseph Venteicher, Mike Venteicher and Benjamin John Frank; two great-nephews: Benjamin D. Frank and Nicolas Gehling; parents-in-law Walter and Sylvia Beckman; sister-in-law Darlene Hartje; and brothers-in-law: Arnold Hartje, Richard Bonney, and Merle Venteicher.
