M. Belz, age 55, of Lytton, Iowa, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2007,
at Loring Hospital in Sac City.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, April 16th, at Farber & Otteman Funeral home in Sac City wirh Pastor Roger Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemtery. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15th at the funeral home where the family will be present. Karlene was born March 3, 1952, the only daughter of seven children to Richard and Gerrolyn (Hoff) Fulcher. She was baptized at Early Sacred Heart Catholic Church and confirmed at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. She graduated from Sac City High School in 1971 and continued her education with two years at U.N.I. College. In 1974 she was united in marriage to Duane Heath, to this marriage two children were born: Brandon and Nichole. They made their home in Sac City. Karlene moved to Davenport, Iowa, in 1986, where she worked for the Rock Island Arsenal for 15 years, in charge of military base housing. In 1998, Karlene was married to Eugene Belz in Davenport. She loved to travel and cook, but most of all she cherished the times she could spend with her grandchildren. They moved to Lytton in 2000 and together Karlene and Gene started their business, Belz’s Changing Times. Karlene retired in 2003, but was able to continue helping at the restaurant until October 2006. Survivors include her husband Gene Belz of Lytton; son Brandon Heath and wife Cortney of Davenport; daughter Nichole Frank and husband Tom of Wall Lake; five stepsons: Phillip, Walter, David (Missy), Gene (Hilary) and Dennis Belz; five brothers: Dick (Pat) Fulcher, Gary (Diane) Fulcher, Paul (Cynthia) Fulcher, Mark Fulcher, and Michael Fulcher; five grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; two step great-grandsons; sister-in-law Kayleen Fulcher; many extended family members and friends. Karlene was preceded in death by her parents; brother John Fulcher; and grandparents, Jack and Marie Hoff. |
