Gilbert L. Schulte

Gilbert “Gib” L. Schulte, age 68, of Lytton, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, February 3rd, at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton with Rev. Wayne Pfannkuch officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Sac City under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 2nd at the funeral home in Sac City.

The son of Ralph and Edith (Gilliland) Schulte, Gilbert was born on April 1, 1938, in Pocahontas County, Iowa. He attended Sac County country school through the eighth grade.

On June 6, 1962, Gilbert was united in marriage to Rosalie Mackrill in Sac City. Three children were born to this union: Glenn, Jeff, and Cary.

Gib worked as Chief of Police in Panora for 18 years, drove truck, and helped his son Jeff with tree work. He retired in 1991 due to ill health. Even when he felt bad, Gib was always willing to help other people in the community. He could make everyone laugh and was well liked by everyone who met him. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, always loving and supportive.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalie; two sons: Glenn Schulte and Jeff Schulte and his friend Bernice Daniel all of Lytton; his daughter Cary Schulte and her friend Dave Littlefield also of Lytton; five grandchildren: Jeffery, Cody, and Zachariah Schulte, and Matthew and Kjirsten Glenn; two brothers: Donald Schulte and wife Wandaleen of Ames, Iowa, and Robert Schulte of Jefferson, Iowa; sister Lucille Wacker and her husband Paul of Perry, Iowa; mother-in-law Dorothy Mackrill; extended family members, and many friends.

Gib was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Edith Schulte; father-in-law Glenn Mackrill; and grandson Alec Goehring.
