Guy Greenlee
Guy “Buzz” Greenlee, Jr., son of Guy Greenlee and Mercedes (Bilstad) Greenlee was born on May 31, 1931, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The family moved to Sac City in 1944, where he graduated from Sac City High School in 1949. On December 30, 1951, Buzz was united in marriage to Lorrine Kreft. In January 1952, he was drafted into the United States Army, serving his country in Germany. He was honorably discharged in December of 1953. He later farmed, was co-owner of Greenlee Grocery, and a meat cutter in the Sac City area, where three children: Paula, Laurie, and Scott were raised. Guy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City, Hutchinson-Liechty American Legion Post No. 546 of Lytton, V. F. W. Post. No. 590 of Sac City, and the Sac City Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Lorrine; children Paula (Dave) Schwarm of Wausau, Wisconsin; Laurie (Steven) Hendricks of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Scott (Lori) Greenlee of Sac City; seven grandchildren; one step-grandson; a sister Mercedes Anne Elias of Ida Grove, Iowa; two brothers: Richard (Sharon) Greenlee of Fort Collins, Colorado, Bruce (Donna) Greenlee of Sartell, Minnesota; many extended family members; and a host of friends. Buzz was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 2nd, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City with Pastor Charles Bettin officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemtery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1st, at the funeral home in Sac City. |
