Billie Barlow

Billie Barlow, age 95, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2007, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 30th, at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City. Burial will be at Cory Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, January 29th at the funeral home.

Willie “Billie” Elberta Gibson was born on October 26, 1911, in Anutt, Missouri, the daughter of William R. and Susie M. (Tankersley) Gibson. She was baptized in the Church of God in Davisville, Missouri, and attended school in Anutt.

On July 26, 1940, Billie was united in marriage to Jasper L. Barlow in Rolla, Missouri. They made their home in Sac City, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Sonya, Deanna, and Randall. Billie worked in many of the local restaurants for the next 50 years, and was well known for making excellent pies and cinnamon rolls. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who loved children and babysat for many families through the years. She retired from the restaurant business in 1980. In 2001, Billie moved to Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, Iowa, due to failing health.

She is survived by her daughters: Sonya Waller and husband Gordon of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Deanna Harris of Lincoln, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jasper; son Randall; son-in-law John Harris; brother Marvin Gibson; and six sisters: Neva Gibson, Lenna Gibson, Madge Williams, Goldie Dean, Hazel Cook, and Virginia Carson.
