Roscoe C. Simpson, II
Roscoe C. Simpson, II, age 85, of Lytton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at the Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, Iowa. Roscoe was born on September 5, 1920, in Graettinger, Iowa, the son of Roscoe Conklin and Edna Mae (Patterson) Simpson and was baptized at the Southside Christian Church in Omaha, Nebraska. He received his education in Omaha. In 1939, Roscoe enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country during WWII. He served in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands and was Honorably discharged in 1945. On May 6, 1944, Roscoe was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Mayo in El Paso, Texas. To this union three children were born, Ricarda Rae, Roselee Ann and Roscoe III. Ross was owner and operator of Ross Plumbing and Heating in Lytton, Iowa for many years retiring in 1985. Following retirement he continued running errands and showing interest in the business. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and had served on the Lytton Fire Department for over 30 years and was fire chief for 10 years. He was also proud of his 60 year membership in the American Legion. Ross and Shirley loved to travel and shop, especially for clothing. Two special events in their life was celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary and Ross’s big 85th Birthday party. His biggest joy in life was spending time with his family, who he loved so dearly. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two daughters and their husbands, Ricarda and Ron Manthe of Central City and Roselee and Rob Hanson of Marion; son and his wife, Roscoe and Teresa Simpson of Lytton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher and Jaime Manthe, Raissa Noelle and Tariq Azmi, Jennifer Ansell, Rebecca Ansell, Tara Simpson, Josiah Simpson and Jacob Simpson and great grandchildren, Mackenzie Ansell, Rochelle Ansell, Hayley Lederly and Zeeshan Azmi. Other survivors include his brother, Robert and his wife Pat Simpson of Palmdale, CA. sister, Mary Simpson McCoy of Ontario, CA; foster granddaughter and foster great granddaughter, Eulalia Ansell and Mycah Ansell.
