Richard Lee McDonough, age 65, of Fonda, Iowa, and formerly of Schaller, passed away at the Fonda Nursing and Rehab on Monday, February 6, 2006.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8th, 2:00 p.m., at the Presbyterian Church in Schaller with burial at Cook Center Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.  Visitation will be an hour prior to the funeral service.

Richard was born on the family farm near Schaller on April 14, 1940, the son of Clyde R. and Inez M. (Koch) McDonough.

He attended Cook Center grade school and went on to graduate from the Schaller High School in 1958.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Schaller.

Following graduation, Richard worked at the popcorn plant and the lumberyard in Schaller.  He later worked at the packing plant in Perry, Iowa, retiring in the early 1970’s.

Richard always enjoyed watching the horses and family gatherings were a very special time for him.

Survivors include his mother Inez McDonough of Sac City, Iowa;  his sister and her husband, Karen and Ron Grieme of Schaller;  and three brothers and their wives, Dean and Mayrean McDonough of Marble Falls, Texas, Tom and Kay McDonough of Boone, and Dale and Jodie McDonough of Iowa Falls.  Nieces and nephews also survive him.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Clyde McDonough and his niece, Kelli Johnson.
