Robert E. Campbell

Robert Elmer Campbell, age 78, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2006, at his home in Sac City.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 22nd, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City with Father Larry McCarty officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Sac City under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, August 21st at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:00 and Vigil Service at 7:30.

The son of Charles Carter and Myrtle Valoura (Deming) Campbell, Robert was born on July 25, 1928, in Lytton, Iowa. He attended Lytton grade school and high school graduating in 1946. In his senior year he was honored to receive the Athlete of the Year award. After high school he attended a trade school in Omaha, NE for radio repair. He served in the National Guard at Storm Lake for six years.

On June 11, 1955, Robert was united in marriage to Delores Francis Gubbels at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Royal, Iowa. This union was blessed with three daughters: Debra, Tamy, and Lori. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City.

Bob began working for McCorkle Construction Company in Sac City in 1947 and retired as a brick mason 1980. Bob and Delores built their own home in 1957 where he resided until his death.

Bob enjoyed being with his family and friends playing pool, cards, croquet, and board games. He loved fishing in his younger years, gardening, and family picnics and get-togethers, ballroom dancing, traveling and camping, and wintering in Arizona. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved a good joke and enjoyed telling them. Halloween was always a favorite time for Bob, as he loved to scare the kids.

Survivors include his daughters: Debra Campbell and friend Rolf Barron of Lytton, IA, Tamy Galbraith and husband Tim of Sac City, and Lori Campbell of Jefferson, IA; and two grandchildren: Ashley Kae Galbraith of Jefferson, and Nichalos Lyn Galbraith of Sac City. Other survivors include two sisters: Donita Carter and husband Gene of Sun City West, AZ, and Nelda Mollett and husband Orrin of Kingman, AZ; and many extended family members and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by father, Charles Campbell; mother, Myrtle Martin; his wife, Delores Campbell on January 16, 1998; infant sister, Nedra Fae Campbell; and brother, Harold Lee Campbell.

Robert was a very fun loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will be missed by many.
