Norma Jeanne Werner, age 79, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away March 6, 2006, at her home in Sac City.

Funeral services for Norma will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 9th, at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 8th, at the funeral home in Sac City.

Norma Jeanne Brown was born on April 17, 1926, in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Jess and Mabel (Wilcox) Brown. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith, and grew up in Tama, graduating from Tama High School.

On August 15, 1947, Norma was united in marriage to Kenneth H. Werner in Tama. They were blessed with a daughter and four sons: Sandra, Bruce, Randy, Brian, and Bradley.

Norma had several careers, including and most importantly, being a mother and grandmother, bookkeeper, secretary, tax preparer, office manager, and during the World War II she worked at Collins Radio to help the war effort. They moved to Sac City in 1963 where she was active with the V. F. W., secretary for Vest & Mather Law Office for many years, and worked at Noble Popcorn. Norma worked until cancer took its toil on her body but never her mind and spirit.

The family will cherish times spent at Spirit Lake, camping and fishing at Angler’s Bay Resort where Norma and Kenneth were proprietors. She loved fishing, bowling, gardening, and reading.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Boerner and husband Laurel of Ida Grove, IA; sons, Bruce Werner and wife Kay of Prairie City, IA, Randy Werner and wife Paula, Brian Werner, and Bradley Werner and Jean Menke all of Sac City, IA; 11 grandchildren: Todd (Michelle) Boerner, Brooke (James) Noren, Jamie Werner, Cary (Scott) Cope, Jon (Wendy) Werner, Kennon Harter, Kelly Werner, Tamara (Chris) Musselman, Melissa Werner, Jason Werner, and Jordon Werner; and 16 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her sister, Doris Polka and husband Paul of Tama, IA; and brother, Jess Brown, Jr. and wife Jean of Tama, IA; many extended family members and a host of friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Mabel Brown; husband, Kenneth Werner; and sister, Dorothy Brown.
