John A. Schulte
Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday the 14th, at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City with a rosary at 8:00 by the Knights of Columbus. John A. Schulte, a lifelong resident of Sac City, Iowa, died at the age of 95 at Loring Hospital in Sac City early Saturday morning, Feb. 11, 2005. He was born in Sac City on September 13, 1910, the son of Charles and Mabel Wilson Schulte. John graduated from Sac City High School in 1928, and from Drake University in 1933 with a degree in law. He was general manager of Noble Manufacturing Company in Sac City for many years, and in 1962 began the full time practice of law until his retirement in 2001. Since retirement he has resided at the Park View Care Center in Sac City. John was a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and the Sac County Bar Association, serving several terms as its president. He was the original attorney for the Loring Trust and was instrumental in the founding of the Loring Hospital in Sac City. John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church, serving for many years as Lay Director. He was also active in Kiwanis, founded the Sac Development Corporation, and served for several years on the city council. In addition to his love of family and work, he enjoyed nothing more than golfing with his friends. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Louise Gaskell Schulte; his son Mike and wife Anne of Carroll, daughter Barbara Eckert of Council Bluffs, son Charles of Sac City, son Frank of St. Paul Minnesota, daughter Mary Ann Bohnenkamp and husband Jeff of Spencer, and daughter Jane Domino of Spencer; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and extended family members. He also leaves behind a sister, Helen Wamsley of Mesa Arizona. Preceding him in death were his parents, and a sister, Janice Hughes of Sac City. |
