Harlene Rodman Memorial servies for Harlene Rodman will be held on Tuesday, January 17th, 2:00 p.m. at Wheatland Prebyterian Chruch in Breda, Iowa with Reverened Donald Gibson officiating. Burial will be at the Wheatland Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, January 16th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake. Wilma Harlene (Pine) Rodman, age 79 of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City, Iowa. Harlene was born on August 29, 1926, in Independence, Missouri to Harley and Grace (Sanders) Pine. She lived in Blue Springs, Missouri and graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1944. She worked as a Candy Striper during high school and at Folgers Coffee Company and the Blue Springs Movie Theater after graduation. On February 20, 1945, Harlene was united in marriage to Darwyn H. Rodman at the home of Darwyn’s parents in Breda. They lived in San Diego, California for one year and then moved to a farm west of Breda where they raised their sons, Mike and Dan, and farmed until retirement. She worked as a bookkeeper for Breda Fertilizer and Reiter Feed in Wall Lake after her marriage. She was busy helping Darwyn on the farm milking cows, raising chickens, gardening, sewing, baking and tending her prize Hybrid T Roses. She loved her Pekinese Dogs and raised and sold them. Harlene was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was watching her family grow and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Wheatland Presbyterian Church in Breda. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of sixty years, Darwyn; her sons: Mike Rodman and his wife Kathy of Hartford, IA, and Dan Rodman and his wife Linda of Wall Lake, IA; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Other survivors include her two sisters: Naomi Davis of Blue Springs, MO, and Patricia Harris of Camdenton, MO; her brothers-in-law: Bob Rodman and wife Joan of Kirksville, MO, Harold Rodman and wife Francis of Sioux City, IA, Don Rodman and wife Carol of Sioux City, IA, and Jim Rodman and wife Sheryl of Novinger, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Harlene was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Helen Edmondson, Mary Frances Robertson and Nellie Passo; and one grandson. |
