Harry A. Godbersen

 Harry A. Godbersen, age 92, of Odebolt, Iowa passed away on Friday, June 16, 2006, at the Odebolt Care and Rehab Center in Odebolt.

Harry Albert Godbersen  was born on May 30, 1914, to William and Ella (Diersen)  Godbersen at their home in rural Odebolt (Richland Township) where he remained his entire life attending and graduating from country school.

Harry was united in marriage to Genevieve Freese on February 17, 1937, and was a member of the Presbyterian Church.  To this union, five children were born: Janice, Ethel, James,  Arlene (who died two months after her birth), and Renae.

Harry loved farming and working with animals (pigs and cows).  He enjoyed square dancing and fishing when he was younger and in his later years enjoyed putting together puzzles and watching game shows.

Harry leaves to mourn his wife, Genevieve, and children, Ethel Subbert and husband, Gene of Scranton, James Godbersen and fiancé  Carla Marsh  of Mapleton,  and  Renae  Godbersen of Waukee; his grandchildren, Scott Groe  (Kelly) and family of Cedar Rapids:  Barry Groe  (Carmen) and family of Livonia, Michigan: Sheila Subbert of Exira,  Lonn  and Lori Subbert of Milford: Julie and Rob Litzenberger of Shakopee, Minnesota: Jamie  (Elisa)  Godbersen  and family of Castle Rock, Colorado:  Joe Godbersen  of Sioux City: and Jeff  Godbersen of Gillette, Wyoming.

Also morning his  passing are two sisters, Dorothy Anderson of Odebolt and Laura Arnett of Fort Collins, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.   

He was preceded in death by his parents;  two brothers, Edward and Clarence and their wives;  two  daughters,  Janice Groe of Osage and Arlene; and a granddaughter,  Pamela Groe.
