Gwendolyn Miller

Gwendolyn May Miller, age 90, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2006, at her home in Sac City.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22nd, at the First Baptist Church in Sac City with burial at Oakland Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 1:30-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21st.

Gwen was born October 20, 1915, on a farm near Lytton, Iowa, the daughter of Elroy and Ella (Towers) Skinner. She graduated from Sac City High School in 1933.

On September 28, 1934, Gwen was united in marriage in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Bert Miller, who was co-partner of the Sac City Nursery, 1 1/2 miles south of Sac City. Three children were born to this union, Marilyn, Beverly, and Larry. Besides working at the nursery, she also worked as a checker for more than thirty years at the local Council Oak Store, Greenlee Food Market, and Earl’s Foodland all located in Sac City. Gwen was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Sac City.

She was a loving wife and mother and treasured the time she could spend with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting and created many afghans for her family.

Survivors include her children: Marilyn Warriner of Schaller, IA, Beverly Fransen and husband Ray of Summitt, SD, and Larry Miller of Sac City; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; her sister Marjorie Nesbitt of Fond du Lac, WI; and extended family members.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bert who passed away on April 7, 1964, and son-in-law, Harold Warriner.
