Florence Mary Harrold, age 81, of Sac City, Iowa, formerly of Palmer and Pomeroy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2006, at her daughters home in Sac City.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 3rd, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City with Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 2nd, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City where there will be a rosary by the Catholic Daughters of America at 7:30 and vigil service at 8:00. Friends may call at the church after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Florence was born on November 3, 1924, to Jerry and Nora (Lynch) Coleman at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was baptized, confirmed, and graduated from Saint Matthews Catholic Church and School in Clare. She went on to business school at Iowa Central College.

Florence was a phone operator in Chicago during the war before her marriage to Virgil Harrold on June 16, 1948, at Saint Matthews. Five children were born to this union: Sharon, Sheila, Thomas, Sandra, and Mary. She was a loving wife and mother, caring for her family, providing a warm and comfortable home, and watching her children grow up and have families of their own, was her greatest joy. She loved her grandchildren and their family get-togethers. Being able to celebrate their 25th and 50th Wedding Anniversary’s was very special to her. One of the many stories Florence loved to tell, was surviving the tornado in 1979, that destroyed the town of Manson and took the farm where she lived. Her faith was always the center of her life and she was active in Guild, a member of 3MClub, and CD of A’s. She was a former member of Saint Matthew’s in Clare, Saint Joseph’s in Palmer, Saint Mary’s in Pomeroy, and presently a member of Saint Mary’s in Sac City. Florence enjoyed music, her Irish heritage, and liked to shop. She worked outside the home as a nurse’s aide and med aide until her retirement in 1989 due to a stroke.

Survivors include her children: Sharon Harrold-Hannon and husband Jim of Central City, IA, Thomas Harrold and wife Mary of Janesville, IA, Sandra Kilbride and husband Pat of Sac City, and Mary Jean Tedlie and husband Eric of Arvada, CO; son-in-law, Gary Koelling and wife Cathy of Milford, IA; 13 grandchildren: Paul, Talitha, and David Hannon, Krista (Mark) Lundblad, Kimber Koelling, David Feiler, Chuck (Brenda) Harrold, Melissa Beary, Michael (Katie) Boomer, Tawnya (Dave) Coyle, Rebecca (Nick) Rohmiller, William Kilbride, and Kelly Kilbride; five great-grandchildren: Sydney and Emily Harrold, Michael and Hannah Beary, and Ryan Rohmiller. She is also survived by her brother, Edward (Noreen) Coleman; sisters-in-law: Darlene Coleman of Bethesda, MD, Colleen Murman of Palmer, IA, Marie Harrold of Manson, IA, and Delores Harrold of Palmer, IA; and many extended family members.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband Virgil in 2000; daughter Sheila Koelling; brothers, Maurice and Jerry; and sister, Maedene Coleman.
