Eleanor Schuett

Mom has completed her adventure with us and is now with Daddy & Roger.

Eleanor Rachel Pingrey Schuett was born on March 20, 1916 to Frank D. and Bessie (Watkins) Pingrey in West Liberty, Iowa, the sixth of seven children. The family moved to Ida County when Eleanor was a young girl, and she lived in the Holstein area for much of her life.

On February 1, 1934 Eleanor was united in marriage to Bernhart W. Schuett in the Storm Lake United Methodist Church, and to this union was born two sons and a daughter. After living in Ida County for several years, they moved to Jefferson, Iowa where they operated the “B & E Café” for many years, specializing in home-made ice cream.

They moved to Sac City in 1969, where Bert was the maintenance superintendent at Loring Hospital. They owned and operated the Sac City Motel on the east end of town for several years. During this time Mom was active in the United Methodist Women, a couple of neighborhood birthday clubs, Town & Country Club, COMIS, and the Loring Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a Hospice Respite volunteer for several years in the Sac City area.

She moved to Branson, Missouri in the spring of 2001 so she could be closer to Sherrie & Virgil. In Branson, she enjoyed the scenery of the southwest Missouri Ozarks, watching the birds out her patio door, going for a “Ride-On-The-Ducks,” watching Dr. Phil and having a Luigi’s “ATM” pizza. After a short illness, she died peacefully in her sleep early Thursday morning, February 16, at her home in Branson, just a month short of her 90th birthday.

Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Frank & Bessie Pingrey, husband Bernhart, son Roger, sisters Jessie Pingrey, Gladys Pingrey Larson, May Pingrey Penrod, and brothers Lee & Hilbert Pingrey.

Surviving family are son and daughter-in-law Virgil & JoAnn Schuett, daughter and son-in-law Sherrie & Robert Anderson all of Branson, Missouri, daughter-in-law Gloria Schuett of Mapleton, Minnesota, brother and sister-in-law George & Ruth Pingrey of Sac City, sister-in-law Adeline Schuett of Holstein and brother-in-law LuVerne Schuett of Saint Joseph, Missouri. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends and her good friend & high school classmate, Arlene Coats of Sac City.

At Mom’s request, she was cremated in Missouri. A memorial service under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home will be held on Monday, February 27, at 11:00 AM at Sac City United Methodist Church, 900 Main Street in Sac City with Reverend Dean McPherson conducting the services. Burial will be in the family plot in the Galva Township Cemetery (Ida County), near Holstein.

In lieu of flowers, Eleanor has requested that memorials be made to Community Hospices of America (1756 Bee Creek Road – Suite “G”, Branson, Missouri 65616), Sac City Library (1001 West Main Street, Sac City, Iowa 50583) or Sac City United Methodist Church (900 Main Street, P.
