Alvin C. Mohr, age 84, of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21st, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City with burial following at Cottonwood Cemetery in Lake City.
Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 20th at the funeral home in Sac City.
Alvin was born on January 10, 1922, in Sac City, Iowa, the son of Henry Honnes and Marie W. (Fuehlendorf) Mohr. He was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Sac City. Alvin attended Sac County country school and graduated from high school.
In 1970, Alvin was united in marriage to Arliss J. Schwan. He farmed south east of Carnarvon until 1973 when he retired and moved to Fort Dodge and began his employment with Iowa Central Community College Industries until 1983. In 1989 Alvin was married to Gwyneth Dreeszen. He loved to dance, especially the polka, liked to fish, and be around his grandchildren. Gwyneth passed away on November 30, 2000. Alvin enjoyed spending his retirement years in Arizona.
Survivors include his son, Jim Schwan of Fort Dodge, his daughter, Barb Bawden and husband Steve of Rockwell City; and three grandchildren: Tina Stroud and husband John and their son Jackson of Ponca, NE, Rachel Bawden and her son Andrew of Rockwell City, and Micheal Bawden of Fort Dodge.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gwyneth, and two sisters.
