Vivian Franck

Funeral services for Vivian Franck will be held Thursday, January 27, 2005, 10:30 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake, Iowa, with Reverend Roger Carlisle presiding. The men’s quartet consisting of: Keith Erickson, Steve Nuetzman, Jack Stickrod, and Brent Becker will provide special music accompanied by Jan Potthoff on the keyboard and Carol Nuetzman, organist. Hilda Arnold, Audrey Lamaak, and Pat Schwaller will take care of the flower arrangements. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 26th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake.

Vivian Helene (Herrig) Franck, age 88, of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at her home in Wall Lake.

Vivian was born on February 6, 1916, at Lake View, Iowa, the daughter of Eduard H. Herrig and Cecilia (Wollesen) Herrig. She was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Lake View on February 27, 1916, and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake April 13, 1930, where she remained a lifetime member. She grew up in Lake View and Wall Lake, attended Wall Lake School, graduating in 1934. She continued her education at Tobin Business College in Fort Dodge and Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.

On September 14, 1935, Vivian was united in marriage to Orville C. Franck at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. They were blessed with two daughters, Judith and Joleen.

Vivian worked as a secretary at the Wall Lake Public Schools for seven years and at Franck & Goodenow Insurance Agency for 18 years. She enjoyed reading, travel and bridge. As a member of Peace Lutheran Church, she served as president of Ladies Aid, as Sunday school teacher for 23 years, as Vacation Bible School teacher, and on many committees. In addition she was active as a 4-H leader with the Violet Violets for 15 years, served on the 4-H County Committee, and was past president of the Wall Lake Library Board.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters and their husbands: Judy and Lee Hodoval of Evansville, IN, and Joleen and Dennis Wurdack of Hudson, OH. Vivian is also survived by her four grandchildren: Dana Lynn Hodoval of Palatine, IL, Kristin Jo Wiltrout and her husband Jeff of Holly Springs, NC, Wendy Michele Goebel and her husband Brian of Evansville, IN, and Meridith Lee Wurdack of Athens, OH; four great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Zachary Wiltrout and Morgan and Tyler Goebel.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville, on January 17, 2004, and her sister, Geneva Becker.
