Richard L. Brown

Funeral services for Richard L. Brown of Wall Lake will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 3rd, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake with Reverend Roger Carlisle officiating under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Military rites will be given by the American Legion Chalon Post No. 262 of Wall Lake.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 2nd, 4:00-8:00 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake.

Richard Lewis Brown, 81, of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2005, at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City from complications of cancer.

Dick was born January 28, 1924, to Harry Bernard and Carrie Augusta (Lewis) Brown of Norwalk, Iowa. He graduated from Cedar Rapids High School. Dick was the loving husband of Viola Brown of Wall Lake and the late Joan Brown of Storm Lake. He will be missed by his daughters, Barbara Monson and her husband Merlin of Tripoli, WI, and Rebecca Kranz and her husband James of Wildwood, MO; step-daughters: Pat Paysen and her husband Dennis of Wall Lake, Carolyn Bahr and husband Don of Artesia, NM; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Frederick Wallace Brown of Cedar Rapids, IA; extended family members and many friends.

He was an avid speed skater in his teens and was a musician in a dance band in his early 20’s & 30’s. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force from December 8, 1942 through February 17, 1946.

Dick was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake, Storm Lake Kiwanis Club, the Elk’s Club, and most recently a member of the Calhoun County R. C. Thunderbirds. His latest hobby was crafting model airplanes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Joan in 1976; brother Harry; and sister Frances Lockwood.
