Richard Mesenbrink

Funeral services for Dick Mesenbrink will be held on Friday, September 9th, 10:30 am, at Lakes United Methodist Church in Lake View with Rev. Rick Johnson and Rev. Marcia Sangel officiating.  Burial will be at the Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, September 8th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View.

Richard “Dick” Dean Mesenbrink, age 75, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 06, 2005, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View.  Dick was born on June 21, 1930, the son of Herman J. and Mabel L. (Christiansen) Mesenbrink, in Sac County.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Wall Lake and attended Sac County country school, graduating from Lake View High School in 1948. 

Dick served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953.

On August 12, 1956, Dick was united in marriage to Betty Hopkins at the United Methodist Church in Lake View.  To this union was born two daughters: Lori and Jeanne.

Dick worked as a bricklayer after serving in the Army and then took over the Frozen Frontier Restaurant in Lake View for his mom, running it from 1960-1987.  He retired in 2003 from the Egyptian Vault Company.  

The family has special memories of their camping trips when the two daughters were just youngsters.  He also enjoyed gardening, raising rabbits; taking rides around the lake, and his special friend and companion “Doxie”.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters: Lori Tajchman and husband Mark of Marian, KS, and Jeanne Mesenbrink and special friend Jimmy Conran of Des Moines, IA; three grandchildren: Jerad and Kevin Ames and Tommy Tajchman; his brother Glenn Mesenbrink and wife Vernette of Schaller, IA; sister-in-law Evelyn Mesenbrink of Sac City; nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Billy and Donald Mesenbrink.
