Pauline M. Riley

Funeral services for Pauline Riley will be held Friday, January 7rd, 1:00 pm, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City, with Reverend Dean McPherson presiding. Honorary pallbearers include: Reta Gates, James Lorenz, Susan Pannell, Scott Riley, Richard Lorenz, and Nicole Riley. Active pallbearers include the following: Gene Riley, Greg Hines, Bill Riley, Fred Wolf, Arlin Riley, and Jeff Folkerts. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Pauline M. Riley, age 81, of Saratoga, Wyoming, passed away, Monday, January 3, 2005, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Columbus, Nebraska. Pauline had moved from Odebolt, Iowa in 1994 to Wyoming.

Pauline M. Hines was born March 6, 1923, the daughter of Fay and Zada (Corsaut) Hines. She was raised on the farm north of Newell, attended country school, and graduated from Nemaha High School.

In 1941 Pauline was united in marriage to James Edward Riley. To this union two children were born, Judith and Calvin.

Pauline worked in banking, administration, and insurance in Iowa until her husband decided to open a tour business. The couple planned and led several trips throughout the United States and Canada. After the death of her husband in 1985 Pauline took over the tour business on her own and continued with it until her retirement in 1998. This experience left her with many great memories and wonderful friends.

She is survived by her children: Judith and Dick Lorenz of Mansfield, MO, and Cal and Bonnie Riley of Columbus, Nebraska, and her significant friend Richard Gerhardt. Other survivors include her grandchildren: Reta and Terry Gates, Susan and Bill Pannell, Rick and Lisa Lorenz, James and Jonna Lorenz, Scott and Suzanne Riley and Nicole Riley; as well as her great grandchildren: Libby and Ben Pannell and Liam and Katilyn Lorenz; her brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Betty Hines, along with a number of extended family and friends.

Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Riley on July 21, 1985, her parents, Ray and Zada Hines, and her sisters Margie Brower and Gloria Jean Smith.
