Margaret Stabbe

Funeral services for Margaret Stabbe will be held Friday, March 4th, 2:00 p.m., at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View with Rev. James Travis officiating. Pallbearers include the following: Doris Bane, Janae Henningsen, Helen Pollock, Cheryl Wilson, Marie Still, Virginia Eggers, Teresa Didghton, and Kellie Stabbe. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 3rd, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View.

Dorothy Margaret (Angus) Stabbe, age 88, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2005, at the Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa, Arizona.
Margaret was born on January 24, 1917, in Malvern, Iowa, the daughter of Walter H. and Bertha B. (Bruns) Angus. She was baptized in 1924 by Reverend John Cunningham at the Methodist Church in Strahan, Iowa, and confirmed by Pastor Theo H. Goehle on December 18, 1949, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Lake View, where she remained a lifetime member. She attended country school and two years college for teaching. She taught school for a short time.

Margaret was united in marriage to Louis A. Stabbe, August 14, 1949, at her parent’s home in Malvern, Iowa. Lou and Margaret lived and farmed south of Sac City where they both worked on raising livestock and always had a big garden until they retired to their present home in Lake View. Margaret always loved to have company at the farm or in town and kids were always welcome. She was not only Aunt, but also Grandma to many and always ready to lend a helping hand.

Margaret loved to quilt, sew, and travel, spending the past 14 winters in Arizona. She was a member of many card clubs and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She was an avid bowler for many years. Margaret was active in church and a member of Ladies Aid, Quilters Group, and was the church representative at LWML Convention 14 times.

Survivors include her sister, Ann (Everett) Stroebele of Mesa, AZ; sisters-in-law: Ruth Angus of Mount Ayr, IA, and Korliss Angus of Malvern, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis, March 3, 1989; and three brothers: Lloyd, David, and Walter H., Jr.
