Martha Jane Pap was born on November 16, 1938, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Gaylord and Marjorie McCarty. The family moved to Sibley, Iowa, in 1946, and Marty attended the Sibley Public Schools graduating in 1956. She attended Grinnell College for one year before transferring to Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sac City.

On June 14, 1959, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Pap, in the Congregational Church in Sibley. Following their honeymoon the couple resided in Fontanelle, Iowa, where Ken was employed as a teacher and coach at Bridgewater-Fontanelle H.S. Coaching and teaching stops included West Monona H.S. in Onawa, Sac City, and Harlan. In 1978, Ken retired from teaching and the family moved back to Sac City permanently.

Marty held several part-time jobs but was primarily a stay-at-home mother, raising her two daughters Lynn and Molly. She enjoyed a wonderful relationship with them but still had time for flower gardening, reading, sewing, shopping, decorating, her golf and picking up after Ken. She was a 13 time ladies club champion at the Sac Country Club between the years of 1983-2001, and a long time member of P.E.O., currently Chapter BI.

Marty Pap, age 66, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2005, after being diagnosed with a brain tumor in July of 2002. Survivors include her husband, Ken of Sac City; daughters Lynn Krasiewich and husband David and granddaughter Alea of Brighton, MI, and Molly Steiner and husband Matt and grandson William of Mendota Heights, MN; one sister, Virginia Kuiper and husband Richard of Fairfax, VA; and a multitude of nephews, nieces, and scores of friends.

Marty was preceded in death by her parents, Gaylord and Marjorie McCarty.
