Manie Ogden

Funeral services for Manie Ogden will be held Monday, January 17th, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Odebolt with Reverend Kathy Spracklin presiding. Pallbearers will include: Gary Siebrecht, Keith Siebrecht, Jim Meyer, Bob Ziegmann, Roger Thayer, and Richard Thayer. Burial will be at the Odebolt Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, January 16th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.

Manie I. Ogden, age 100, of Odebolt, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2005, at Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center, in Odebolt, Iowa.

Manie Irene Collenbaugh was born on April 19, 1904, the daughter of Charles M. and Mary Ellen (Rhule) Collenbaugh, on the family farm north of Odebolt, where she lived until September 1987.

She attended country school and graduated from Odebolt High School. After graduation, Manie taught rural school for two years.

On January 3, 1924, Manie was married to Harold (Pat) Ahrenholtz. To this union a son, Donald was born. They farmed the family farm, north of Odebolt, until 1969. From 1959 until 1969, she worked in the Sac County Treasurer’s office, in Sac City, as a bookkeeper.

When the Ahrenholtzs retired, they spent the winters in California until Harold’s death in May 1987. On August 14, 1990, she was married to Bartley Ogden of Odebolt. They spent the winters in Arizona.

Manie was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women. She was also a member of Odebolt Women’s Club, M&K Club, the Daughters of American Revolution, and several card clubs. She was a member of the M&K Club for over fifty years. Manie was very devoted to her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Manie leaves to mourn her son, Donald Ahrenholtz and Becki Jarvela of Lacey, WA; step-daughter, Janet Fertig and husband Ken of Sheldon, IA, step-sons, Vern Ogden and wife Gayle of Granbury, TX, and Kent Ogden of Las Vegas, NV; step-son-in-law, Charles Mandernach; brother, Charles Collenbaugh and wife Dorothy of Long Beach, CA; two grandsons: Steve Ahrenholtz of Longview, WA, and Mark Ahrenholtz and wife Kim of Veyo, UT; two granddaughters: Jane Mulledy and husband Scott of Omaha, NE, and Robyn Vilhelmsen and husband Keith of Lacey, WA; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Harold Ahrenholtz in 1987, and Bartley Ogden in 2003, and sisters, Inez Buehler and Laura Branson.
