Joan Zimmerman

Graveside services for Joan Zimmerman will be held Friday, March 4th, 2:00 p.m., at the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City. There is no visitation. The Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City is in charge of arrangements.

Neva Joan Zimmerman, age 71, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2005, at her home in Sac City following a lengthy illness. Joan was born on October 8, 1933, the daughter of Lee and Coral (Hess) Curry in Early, Iowa. She attended Early Community School and Sac City Community School. On December 23, 1952, Joan was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Zimmerman at Storm Lake, Iowa. They made their home in Sac City and where they raised their four children: Karen, Judy, James, and Dean.

Joan was a familiar face around the courthouse in Sac City as she worked for many years for the Sac County Sheriff’s Department and the Clerk of Court retiring in 1993. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and reading.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Karen Schaefer of Aurelia, IA, Judy Sitzmann and husband Dean of Arnolds Park, IA; sons, James Zimmerman and wife Kathleen of Boone, IA, and Dean Zimmerman and wife Suzanne of Sac City; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Wilkinson and Alyssa Kruskop of Arnolds Park, Heather Campbell and husband Corey of Lytton, Joseph Zimmerman of Fonda; Jacob Schaefer of Des Moines, Tyler Schaefer of Aurelia; and Joshua and Amber Zimmerman of Boone; two great-grandsons, Tanner and Jered Campbell of Lytton; four step grandchildren: Nicole Kent of Deming, WA, Burton Kent of Glenwood, IA, Jamie Sitzmann and Jennifer Boyle both of Sioux City, IA; two step great-grandchildren: Olivia Sitzmann and Erica Boyle; brother, John Curry of Chicago, IL; sisters: Marian Christiansen of Las Vegas, NV, Joyce Carter of Concord, CA, and Dorothy Curry of Chicago, IL; extended family members and many friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth on August 28, 1992; brother, James, and sisters, Norma Lloyd and Leola Braden.
