Geraldine Grundon

Funeral services for Geraldine Grundon will be held Wednesday, March 9th, 2:00 p.m., at the First Christian Church in Sac City with Rev. Sharla Hulsey officiating. Phyllis Pontious will accompany Frank Pontious in special musical arrangements. Pallbearers will be the following: Mike McCrea, Jeff McCrea, Jerry Niles, Larry Birt, LuVerne Birt, and Harold Titus. Burial will be at the Cory Grove Cemetery in Sac City under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8th, 6:00-8:00 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Geraldine Fern Grundon, age 92, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 03, 2005, at Park View Care Center in Sac City.

Geraldine Birt was born on November 11, 1912, in Grant City, Iowa, the daughter of Waldo Emerson and Minnie Maude (Niles) Birt. She attended Beauty College and graduated from Whittier High School, in Whittier, CA. Geraldine was baptized October 14, 1924, at the First Christian Church in Sac City. She transferred her membership to the First Christian Church in East Whittier, CA on April 22, 1956, and back to Sac City in August of 1989.

Geraldine was united in marriage to Edward Earl Austin, October 10, 1929, in Storm Lake, Iowa. To this union was born three children: Bonnie Fern, Earline Ann, and Gary Edward. She then married Robert V. Grundon in Las Vegas, NV, January 18, 1949. Geraldine found love again and married Joseph Doyle Grundon August 4, 1957, in Montebello, CA.

In earlier years she worked at the Navy Depot, in Crane, IN, and as a beautician, retiring in 1949. Geraldine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, always very caring and giving to others. She enjoyed reading, writing, baking, quilting, sewing, and genealogy.

Survivors include her husband Doyle; daughters, Bonnie McCrea and Earline Ann Stadelbacher-Titus and her husband Harold, all of Sac City, and Gary Edward Austin of Dawsonville, GA; 12 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and extended family members.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Earl Austin and Robert V. Grundon; great grandson, Justin McCrea; and two brothers: Lyle and Reginald Birt.
