Fred Schramm
Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00-8:00, on Friday, December 30th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt. Fred J. Schramm, age 87, of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2005, at the Odebolt Nursing & Rehab Center, Odebolt. Fred was born on February 9, 1918, in Ida County, Iowa, the son of Henry L. and Katherine (Burnstetter) Schramm. He had an older brother, Albert. Fred was baptized as an infant and confirmed on March 29, 1931, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. He attended school in Arthur and graduated from the Arthur High School in May 1937. Fred was united in marriage to Alice Schultz on March 18, 1941. To this union, two sons were born, Kenneth and Lloyd. They farmed in the Odebolt-Arthur area until retiring 1988 when they moved into Odebolt. After his retirement, Fred enjoyed fishing and playing cards with his family and friends. He wasn’t happy unless he could go fishing twice a week. Fred is survived by his wife, Alice of 64 years; two sons: Kenneth and his wife Beth of Odebolt and Lloyd and his wife Carol of Arthur; five grandchildren: Tommy Schramm, Tony and his wife Tammy Lindner, David and his wife Tanya Pierce, and Roger and his wife Amy Lansink all of Odebolt and Alan and his wife Brenda Schramm of Denison; two step grandchildren: Dennis Anderson of Florida and Travis Anderson of Aurelia; 14 great-grandchildren: Josh, Jay and Jennifer Schramm, Tiffany, Ashley, and Austin Lindner, Wyatt and Savahanna Pierce, Derek, Leighton, Ryan, and Janae Lansink all of Odebolt, Tanner, and Brandon Schramm of Denison; one step-great grandson, Jacob Anderson of Aurelia; and a sister-in-law, Fern Schramm of Odebolt. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Albert. |
