Ethel A. Mandernach
Ethel was born on October 29, 1911, in Odebolt, Iowa, the daughter of George and Rose (Hoefling) Mandernach. She attended school in Odebolt until her Junior year. Ethel and her parents moved to Sac City and she graduated in 1928. She continued her education at Iowa State College, in Ames, receiving a Home Economics Degree. Ethel taught school in Hinton, Colfax, and Red Oak. She then returned to Sac City and worked in the Sac County Recorder’s office for many years. Most recently, she worked for Sac County Abstract. Ethel loved to cook and bake, especially was known for her sugar cookies. She enjoyed her garden and flowers. She corresponded with many people, including past students. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women, and was a Past Matron of the Eastern Star. Ethel is survived by her sister-in-law, Maxine Mandernach of Sac City; six nieces and nephews: Magnus George Craford of California, Roseanne Kane of Maryland, John Craford of Connecticut, Craig Mandernach of Illinois, Jan Reaman of New Hampton, Iowa, and Arlys Staub of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mae Craford, brother-in-law, Magnus Craford, brother, Robert Mandernach, sister-in-law, Lee Mandernach, and an infant sister, Hazel. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at the First Presbytieran Church in Sac City with Rev. B.J. Ukena officiating with burial in the Oakland Cemetery, Sac City, Iowa There will be Eastern Star Services at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City at 7:00 P.M. Monday Evening where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon. |
