Drexel Haffner

Funeral Services for Drexel Haffner will be held Saturday, January 8th, 10:30 a.m., at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton, with Pastor Wayne Pfannkuch officiating. Pallbearers include the following: Gene Haffner, Mark Haffner, Ron Haffner, Larry Lockner, Brian Haffner, and Matthew Lockner. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm, Friday, January 7th, at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Drexel George Haffner, age 86, of Lake City, Iowa, passed January 5, 2005, at his home in Lake City.

Drexel was born on September 16, 1918, in Sac County, the son of Fred and Anna (Bartels) Haffner. He graduated from Lytton High School in 1936. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith as a child and a member of Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church of Lytton.

On April 6, 1946, Drexel was united in marriage to Johanna Everts. They were blessed with four children: Gene, Ron, Ann, and Brian. They farmed near Lytton and Jolley until retiring in 1983.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Johanna; his children: Gene Haffner and his wife Julie of Windsor, CO, Ron Haffner and his wife Susan of Solon, IA, Ann Lockner and her husband Larry of Lohrville, IA, and Brian Haffner and his significant other, Dena Nichols of Story City, IA; two grandchildren: Andrea and Matthew Lockner; three step-grandchildren: Lindsay, Carrie, and Kelley Johnson; extended family members and friends.

Drexel was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Anna Haffner; four brothers: Owen, Merle, Fred, and Virgil Haffner; and sister Evelyn Uphoff.
