Dorothy Cressler

Private family services will be held Monday, January 24th, 2:00 p.m., at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City with Father Larry McCarty presiding. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Sunday from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Dorothy Kristine Cressler, age 79, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2005, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell, Iowa, where she had participated in many activities for the past four years.

Dorothy Kristine Mueggenberg was born on April 1, 1925, in Sac County, the daughter of Bernard H. and Kathryn (Hatting) Mueggenberg. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City. She grew up on a farm in Sac County and went to country school.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Ivan Cressler in 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City. They lived on a farm northeast of Sac City their entire married life.

She was a devoted wife and mother making a comfortable home for her family and helping Ivan on the farm with their poultry operation and farm work. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and her flowers.

Survivors include her son, Wilmer Cressler of Sac City, IA; three grandchildren: Kristy, Jayme, and Scott Cressler; three brothers: Merlin Mueggenberg and his wife Delores of Storm Lake, IA, Walter Mueggenberg and his wife Grace of Sac City, and Laverne Mueggenberg and his wife Bernice of Sac City; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ivan W. Cressler, March 5, 2000; daughter, Louise Ann Cressler; and two sisters: Leona Alexa and Alvina Gesy.
