Funeral services for Dorothy Mae “Dot” Burk will be held, 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 3, 2005, at Lakes United Methodist Church in Lake View, with burial at Ferguson Cemetery, under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm, on Wednesday, February 2nd, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View.

Dorothy Mae “Dot”Burk, age 83, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2005, at Centennial Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls. Dorothy Mae Pankey was born on September 9, 1921, at Lake City, Iowa, the daughter of William and Ethel (Cunningham) Pankey. She grew up at Lake City and graduated from Lake City High School. She was a member of Lakes United Methodist Church of Lake View.

On April 9, 1940, Dorothy Mae was united in marriage to Henry Reese Burk. They were blessed with six children: Gary, Larry, Dennis, Renae, Ganice, and LaRae. They lived in Denison, IA, until moving to Lake View in the early 90’s. Reese passed away in May of 1996. In December 2001, she moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to her daughter.

A loving wife and mother, Dorothy Mae, enjoyed being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to play cards and BINGO.

Survivors include her children: Gary Burk of Denison, IA, Larry Burk of Lake View, IA, Dennis Burk of Calistoga, CA, Renae and husband David Marten of Elizabethtown, KY, and LaRae and husband Jon Clausen of Sioux Falls, SD; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister Daisy Hyland of Lake City, IA, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Reese; daughter Ganice Burk; and granddaughter, Lisa Burk.
