Rachel Wetzstein

Funeral service for Rachel Anne Wetzstein will be Friday, February 20th, 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Lake View with Reverend Jerry Schultz and Reverend Renée Lunemann officiating. J. Andy Meredith and Ann Wetzstein will provide special music. Mr. & Mrs. Scott Onstot and Mr. & Mrs. Dean Stock will take care of the flower arrangements. Honorary pallbearers include: Mr. & Mrs. Herb Onstot, Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Stock, and Mr. & Mrs. George Dresselhuis. Casket bearers are the following: Scott Onstot, Greg Onstot, David Cavanaugh, Gary Wicker, Dean Stock, and Barry Temple. Interment at the Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View with Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday, February 19th, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View. Friends who wish to send condolences may do so online.

Rachel Anne Wetzstein, age 88, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at her home in Lake View.

Rachel Anne Molsberry was born on August 31, 1915, in Sac City, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. Frank and Pearle (Cooper) Molsberry. She graduated from Sac City High School, the class of 1933. On May 13, 1934, she was united in marriage to Harland L. Wetzstein in Sioux Falls, SD. They were blessed with two children: Frank and Gail. Rachel Anne was a member of the United Church of Christ in Lake View.

She was a loving wife and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and baked the best pies. Rachel Anne loved tailgating with her Iowa City friends at the Iowa Hawkeye football games. Her interests included golfing, reading, music, and travel. She especially enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren, and friends. She had such a good time with the H.S. group and all the parties they had. She will be missed.

Survivors include her son Frank Wetzstein and his wife Pam of Bellevue, IA; her daughter Gail Conner and her husband Larry of Solon, IA; eight grandchildren: Anne Wetzstein, Jeanne Destin, Erin (Larry) Bock, Meggan and Lindsay Montgomery, Landon Conner, Gary Pigney, and Daniel Conner; six great-grandchildren: Jacob, Haley, and Alexis Bock, Abagail and Rachel Ann Whitehouse, and Chelsea Hernandez Pigney; sister-in-law Lois Redenbaugh of Lake View, IA; her nephew Barry Temple of Cheyenne, WY; and her beloved dog “Sugar”.

Rachel Anne was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harland; her sister Floris Temple; and her nephew Kirk Temple.
