Raymond M. DeBourgh

Raymond M. DeBourgh, age 87, of Sac City, Iowa, died Thursday, January 22, 2004, at the Loring Care Center in Sac City after a short illness.

Raymond, the son of John and Anna (Anderson) DeBourgh, was born on February 27, 1916, in rural Sac City. He received his education from the country school.

Raymond was united in marriage to Mildred Murphy on May 26, 1943, in Sac City. They lived all of their married life in Sac City with the exception of five years when they farmed in Claremont, MN, from 1950-55. He farmed in rural Sac City until 1958, when they moved into Sac City, and Raymond went to work for Nobles/Royal Industries, until his retirement in 1978.

He enjoyed fishing, playing euchre, and watching baseball, being an avid fan of the Braves and the Cubs. He especially enjoyed those many summers at Lake Okoboji and an occasional trip to Sloan.

Survivors include his wife Mildred of Sac City; his children: LuAnn Beager of McHenry, IL, Ray DeBourgh of Sac City, Diane Welsh and her husband Gene of Urbandale, IA, Peggy Dettmann and her husband Dennis of Sac City, and Pat Billerbeck and her husband Bill of Cedar Falls, IA; nine grandchildren: Scott Corsaut, Chris Corsaut, Chad Beager, Curt Neumann, Todd Neumann, Tony Dettmann, Dan Dettmann, Angela Dettmann, and Tina Irlmeier; nine great-grandchildren: one sister Ilene Pellersels of Sac City; other extended family members and friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; John and Anna DeBourgh; and four brothers: Russell, Harold, Gerald, and Alfred.

Funeral services are Saturday, January 24th, 2:00 p.m., at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City with Reverend Wayne Pfannkuch officiating. Mary Townsend, organist, and Bill Brand, soloist, will provide special music. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Scott Corsaut, Chris Corsaut, Chad Beager, Curt Neumann, Todd Neumann, Dan Dettmann, Tony Dettmann, and Chad Irlmeier. Honorary pallbearers are Tina Irlmeier and Angela Dettmann. Interment is at Oakland Cemetery in Sac City.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. Saturday until service time at the funeral home.
