Norma A. Stimson

Funeral services for Norma Stimson will be Saturday, January 10, 2004 at 10:30 am at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake. Father John McGuirk will officiate with special music by the St. Joseph’s Choir accompanied by Sue Mein. Pallbearers include: Chris Stimson, Tom Stimson, Ben Stimson, Dan Culhane, Jim Shimon, and Andy Barnett. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday, January 9, 2004 from 4:00-8:00 pm with a vigil service at 7:00 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake.

Norma A. Stimson, age 83, of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 07, 2004, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake.

Norma was born on August 1, 1920, in Wall Lake, the daughter of Frank E. and Bernice (Walrod) Beck. She was a life long resident of Wall Lake, graduating from Wall Lake High School in 1938. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake and a life long member.

On July 15, 1940 Norma was united in marriage to Gordon M. Stimson at the Rectory of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake. They were the parents of three sons: Grant, Mark, and Eric. Her family was always very important to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Norma was co-owner of the Stimson Grocery Store in Wall Lake until her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends: golfing, playing bridge, talking politics, or just listening to music. Her coffee group will dearly miss her.

Survivors include her sons: Grant and his wife Annette of W. Des Moines, IA, Mark and his wife Marlene of Wall Lake, IA, and Eric of W. Des Moines; her ten grandchildren: Christopher (Monica) Stimson, Kelly (Andy) Barnett, Kristi (Jim) Shimon, Kelley (Eric) Nedved, Kevin (Tanya) Carlson, Stacey (Dan) Culhane, Tom (Kay) Stimson, Ben Stimson, Jennifer Stimson, and Stephanie Stimson; her 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Bobbie Squires of Glidden, IA; extended family; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gordon on March 14, 1995, and a sister Leone Nesset.
