Nancy Musfeldt

Nancy Lee Musfeldt, age 51, of Storm Lake, Iowa, formerly of Wall Lake, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2004, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Nancy was born on February 1, 1953, the daughter of Ubbo and Genevieve (Tebben) Horst. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. She grew up on a farm west of Wall Lake and graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1972. She went on to attend Spencer School of Business, graduating with high honors.

On June 24, 1983, Nancy was united in marriage to Steven D. Musfeldt at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Carroll, IA.

Prior to her marriage, Nancy worked in Carroll at St. Anthony’s Hospital in admitting and switchboard and later worked at the Coast-to-Coast store. After her marriage she was church secretary at Zion Lutheran in Arcadia from 1983-1994 and also worked part time at the convenience store in Westside. The couple moved to Storm Lake in 1994 where Nancy worked at Hardee’s and Wal Mart, retiring in 1997 due to health problems. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake where she did volunteer work in the church.

Nancy enjoyed baking and collecting cookbooks. She will be remembered for her dedication and desire to help others.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Musfeldt of Storm Lake; her mother Genevieve Horst of Auburn, IA; her parents-in-law: David and Mary Ann Musfeldt of Arcadia, IA; a sister Marilyn Blevens of Deloit, IA; three sisters-in-law: Linda (Gary) Dreessen of Fort Morgan, CO, Sue Musfeldt of Westside, IA, and Barbara (Rick) Tapscott of Des Moines, IA; a brother-in-law Dale Musfeldt of Westside, IA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father Ubbo Horst in 1984, and by her grandparents: Henry and Hilka Horst and Andrew and Annie Tebben.

Funeral services for Nancy will be on Wednesday, June 23, 2004, 11:00 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, with Reverend Henry P. Kuhn officiating, and Brenda Koeppe, organist. Pallbearers include the following: Ricky Kroeger, Jason Kroeger, Richard Kroeger, Dale Musfeldt, Kevin Sporrer, and Chris Jesse. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm at the Wall Lake Cemetery in Wall Lake, under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 22nd, 4:00-8:00 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.
