Ivy & Clara Russell
Ivy owned his own business in Arizona and later worked for a large cotton ranch outside of Wickenburg until his retirement in 1979. He passed away in his home on November 10, 1992. After her husband's death, Clara stayed in her own home until moving to “My Father's Retirement Ranch” in Wickenburg in 1998. In 2003 she moved to the Good Shepherd Care Center in Peoria, Arizona, where she lived until her death on January 15, 2004. They were both cremated. Interment will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. They are survived by their two children: Sandy Cather of Avondale, Arizona, and Bruce Russell of San Diego, California; two grandchildren: Cammie (Jonathan) Bird of Goodyear, Arizona, and Nicki (Erik) Hansen of Aliso Viejo, California; two great-granddaughters: Sydney Bird and Taylor Hansen; Clara's sisters: Helen Weeber of Ida Grove and Phyllis (Richard) Auen of Rockwell City; Ivy's brother Lucian (Doris) Russell; and sister-in-law Julia Russell of Sac City, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial
services will be held on Friday, April 30th, at 11:00 a.m., at the
First Christian Church in Sac City for Clara and Ivy Russell, former
Sac City and Newell residents, their will be no visitation. Clara
V. Russell was born on April 13, 1910, on a farm south of Sac City.
She was the eldest of four daughters born to Reuben and Maggie Bruner.
Ivy Russell was born on February 11, 1911, in Arkansas and moved to
Sac City when he was an infant. He was the third of nine children
born to Roy and Mattie Russell. They were both educated in the Sac
City schools and were married on June 4, 1933. In 1945 they moved
to Newell where they continued farming until 1961 when they moved
to Wickenburg, Arizona.
