Doug Lohff

Douglas J. Lohff, age 51, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2004, at his home. Doug was born on June 22, 1953, at Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Willard F. and Anna C. (Frahm) Lohff. He was baptized at the Methodist Church in Holstein, Ia. He lived with his parents on a farm northwest of Holstein and then moved to a farm north of Lytton.

Doug graduated from Lytton High School in 1971. He was married to Jenny Jackson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua in 1977 and later divorced. They were the parents of a son, Michael.

Doug enjoyed the farm life and worked as a farm hand for many years in the Lytton area. His interests included fishing and hunting, especially coyote hunting, and playing cards. In the spring he loved asparagus hunting for friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his son, Michael Schossow of Laurens, IA; his father Willard F. Lohff of Sac City, IA; four brothers: David and his wife Ann of Fort Dodge, IA; Brian and his wife Bette of Lytton, IA; Steven and his wife Rosemary Sac City, IA; Kevin and his wife Becky of Yetter, IA; and a sister Diane Jones of Lytton, IA. Other survivors include an aunt and uncle, Merlin and Elva Gebers of Holstein, IA; an aunt Priscilla Lohff of La Puente, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Anna C. Lohff in 1986, and brother-in-law Tom Jones in 1998.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 25th, 10:30 am at the Galva Township Cemetery, Galva, Iowa, under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Reverend Todd Schlitter will officiate. Honorary pallbearers include the following: Tim Huddleson, Danny Rench, Tom Harman, Jerry Corey, Harold Peyton, Jeff Kreft, Jim Ackerman, Darwin Matter, and Darold Matter.

Visitation is Friday evening, 5:00-8:00 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.
